Who is this group for?
This group is for anyone who serves public health organizations in a consulting or vendor capacity. This includes independent consultants, consulting firms, technology vendors, software companies, data analytics providers, and other service providers working with local, state, or federal public health agencies on AI and digital transformation initiatives.
How is this different from the AI Community of Practice?
The AI Community of Practice (AI COP) is specifically for governmental public health professionals who work within health departments. AI Consultants for Public Health is for those who serve public health from the outside—consultants and vendors. Both groups face unique challenges, and this separation allows for more candid, relevant conversations about client relationships, procurement processes, and implementation strategies.
Is there a cost to participate?
No, this is a free community gathering. We believe in building connections across the public health consulting ecosystem to ultimately improve AI adoption and digital transformation outcomes for health departments nationwide.
What AI topics do you cover?
Topics vary each session based on what's relevant to AI in public health. We discuss generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot), machine learning applications in epidemiology and disease surveillance, AI governance and policy development, data privacy considerations, implementation challenges unique to government clients, and practical use cases for health department operations.
How can AI consultants help public health departments?
AI consultants and vendors play a critical role in helping health departments navigate digital transformation. This includes developing AI readiness assessments, creating AI governance frameworks and policies, implementing machine learning solutions for disease surveillance and population health analytics, training staff on generative AI tools, and ensuring responsible AI adoption that protects community data and builds public trust.
What are the biggest AI challenges facing public health organizations?
Public health agencies face unique AI implementation challenges including limited budgets, complex procurement requirements, workforce training needs, data governance concerns, interoperability with legacy systems, and the need to maintain public trust. Our sessions address these challenges head-on with practical strategies from peers who've navigated similar situations.
